Located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, the McWane Science Center is one of the Southeast’s premier destinations for science, discovery, and hands-on learning. Housed within a beautifully restored historic department store, the facility features immersive exhibits, live demonstrations, aquariums, laboratories, extensive fossil collections, and a world-class IMAX Dome Theater that inspires curiosity in visitors of all ages. Method-1 partnered closely with the McWane exhibit design team to bring the captivating Sea Monsters exhibition to life. Our team engineered and fabricated every exhibit case and interactive component, creating engaging environments that encouraged visitors to explore the fascinating world of prehistoric marine life.
Working collaboratively with McWane’s artists and educators, we developed a series of custom exhibit solutions designed to safely display both authentic and reproduced fossils while maximizing visibility, storytelling, and visitor interaction. Each element was carefully crafted to support the exhibit’s educational mission while delivering a memorable, hands-on experience. The result is an immersive exhibit that combines scientific discovery, interactive learning, and innovative fabrication—allowing guests to come face-to-face with some of the ocean’s most extraordinary creatures from the distant past.
